What I am wondering is that the Hall of Monuments they speak of, do you get to customize it? does your stats in the Hall updated later on with the current developement of your existing characters? WHAT IS IT LIKE? NEED INFO!!!

And wasn't the first true purpose of Anet the fact that they wanted a radical, rebelious MMORPG that outmatched all other, a CORPG IN OTHER WORDS, something with a mixture of Diablo, Half-life, and WoW. Something special, where you jump in for 2 hours, get quick action, and then leave it for a week...I'll post a full thread about this later.

I think you just put in the access code like if you bought a game that came with the magazine, /bonus and you have the mini pet in your storage. Like I said in a previous post, hopefully we will get character slots for so we can start new with a character even though it is an expansion and they didnt want to bother with low level content. Maybe something new but you have to start the character at the beginning of Nightfall/Factions/Prophecies.

As the details of how the actual game play would be like for GW2, I think people should stop judging it base on the standard of GW and WoW(or any other MMO).

For all we know, it might have a very differnt mechanic than any other traditional-MMO (thought it might sound much like one right now on paper). And it mostlikly will be differnt from what we have come to use to in GW.

For now, I am more sad about the discontinuation of GW1, but still excited about GW2. But will have to play the BETA to judge if it will be the innovator it was befoe, or becoming just another meat on the shelf. Too early to really say much on it now.

I seriously doubt millions of players will stop playing GW 1 when GW2 is out, most of them might just play them both.

Look at CS for example it still has more players then CSS and source has been out for a good 2.5 years now, i know GW isnt going to do the same trick, but it clearly show's that an old game like CS still runs strong because its an good game, GW is good to and well IF Anet ever decides to pull the plug on GW 1 they really should make it open source or some kind of patch that you can still play it, possible on rented servers or something like that, heck even that you could play it on your own lan. Not having the millions of other players doesnt bother me, i just love PVe and that's all to it, seriously i've spend a lot of money in all the CE packages and pre release packages and i would hate to see it be gone to waste.

Ok right the above may be a long time from here on now and there just nothing certain on this point, but you get the idea.

You miss mine too Fanelly but that's ok I probably didnt convey it properly. Look at them this way. Thy are two separate games and you play in any one of them. Also, the equipment is transferable so FoW armor wearers shouldn't be complaining :-)
Anyways I guess it's upto the respective guilds to decide on what toplay. I know my Guild (56 players coincidentally) are all planning to buy the next edition.
How this change affects PvP players is a major concern among players as well and I believe the balancing acts will be done by ANet.
Most importantly I believe Anet should not and should not increase the number of skills on the Skill bar at a time i.e. 7 skills and 1 res skill (in PvE at least!!) Skill based playing will be a core I believe which will carry over to the next edition.
Interesting to know wether Anets pricing strategy is failing or not or this change to GW2 is just something they originally intended and not being able to achieve it

Isn't Lineage I still have hords of people playing it (in Korea atleast), while they have Lineage II as well?

So I guess (or hope) that GW would still be up for long time.... even when GW2 come out...

As Exoudeous said, making comparisons to WoW and calling GW2 a WoW clone is idiotic. As if WoW was the first and only game to have playable races, high level caps, mounts, etc etc. So yes, you people ARE "just coming up with sh*t out of the air."

I'll reserve judgment until I try out GW2, but I will say the things that I love about GW are:

-Instancing
-Free to play
-Level 20 cap (so that I can actually play a number of characters and max them)
-Great graphics and beautiful scenery
-Feeling that I'm part of the story
-Lack of grind

Looking forward to GW:EotN, not so sure about GW2 yet. I'm slightly worried because I felt GW really filled a niche and now it's moving out of that niche and into the same realm as other "MMOs". I'll try it out, but I'm wary and not getting my hopes up too much about how it'll go. I think business wise, there's some good decisions here - it moves the game more towards more conventional MMOs, which makes GW2 far more competitive and appealing to converts from other games.

On the other hand, I've appreciated GW's unique approach, I felt it really did things that other games did not, and I'd hate to see that go in favor of going with the crowd.

I know I'll try to get on the betas for GW2, and see what I think - I love betas and I love ferreting out bugs (hey I'm a tester, I can't help it), and I'd love to get a peek at what's in store for us for GW2.

Either way, I'm not going to decide if it'll suck or rule until I get a crack at it, but I'm sticking with a realistic point of view. It might be great... or it might be everything that I hate in an online game. Only time will tell.

-Kelli

PS- okay, I can't possibly be the only person who could care less about what happened to Gwen, am I? :P

Exciting news, I cant wait for both GWEN and GW 2 and I will support Arenanet by purchasing their awesome products.

I think everyone who is reacting so negatively should chill out, especially about the level cap and crossover between GW 1 and 2.

Primarily, the designers chose not to give definitive information on the level cap yet because they wanted to see the reaction of the community at a proposed high level cap. If everyone whines about it then they can better design the level cap to suit the majority of players.

Arenanet has proved over 3 campaigns that Guild Wars has minimal grind, if they want to make it possible to reach level 100, you can bet they will be providing content to get you there, not have you grinding monsters for hours.

About the carryover concerns, honestly people need a reality check.

Consider this: 3 campaigns, 4200 hours, 9 characters, rank 10, gladiator lvl 2, KoaBD, 1000 platinum in storage, multiple 15k sets per toon, UAX, etc. There are many out there with more playing time than I, I realize that.

I have invested a lot and I couldn't care less about the transfer except character names and maybe a colorful aura depending on your titles from the previous games to show your e-peen. It is a good thing to start over sometimes. I got more than my money's worth.

Carrying over characters and gold/items or whatever is completely unnecessary and doesn't fit in with a story line that is hundreds of years in the future. This is a video game, learn to live in real life and realize that things do not last forever in either case.

For those of you who read about GW2 and cry so much about it and want to voice to everyone that you won't be purchasing it because of whatever reason; let me be the first to give you a swift kick in the ass on the way out the door, you won't be missed.

geez 24 pages already and not much said by gaile execpt buy the magazine---which doesnt go on sale for another what 2 weeks....or better yet wait for said periodical to arrive at your local library!! well, mine doesnt even carry periodicals other than the newspaper!!! so much for that idea.....so she is pushing you to spend more money on what, one of anets business partners perhaps????

well nevermind.

thanks gaile for at least responding. and thanks inde for the more consise info on the first page-----I can see this running for lots of pages to come.

my 2cents.
I wont be buying gw2, I will allow all my gw1 characters to achieve the titles and such they wish and then bid them a fond farewell....a funeral perhaps.
It should take me a bit to get 11 toons that far afterwards I will quit playing ....I see no need to play a game that is becoming more and more a pvp-fest (I am a die hard pve player exclusively).... we dont need level 100. Its hard enough to get a pug with everyone being level 20 let alone having people not accept you because you can only play a few hours a week and are only level 27.....and instances--- I cant see waiting for x hours to kill off giant Y .....or dragon A....nope that is not what I wanted from this game. (besides the towns/outposts are already taxing my connection----tooo many people in one place for it.....I can just see 50people in a party what that would do.....I walk outside and LAG LAG LAG LAG LAG ...quest is over and I am dead, ok that was fun).

and I dont really care about carrying over my characters or stuff, but come on ---you CAN carryover your minipets????????????? thats just ridiculous....they just take up storage (and I sincerely doubt they will fix the storage issue by guild wars 37 even) so now you have 10 characters worth of minipets taking up your storage! what a joke.

so at least we have some kind of time line for the end.....
'holidays' in american lingo is usually the end of the year (thanksgiving, xmas, new years----there are no summer holidayS here, only the 4th of july-- that is just 1 not dayS).....so I have until then to get my characters their titles and sh*t before the last guild wars installment......and whether or not I even buy that one will really really depend on what happens between now and then.....but the magic eight ball says now that the chances arent very likely. (though it was wrong about nightfall.....so it may be the last gw I purchase just to tie up loose ends and maybe have some fun in the catacombs---one of my favorite areas in pre as well!)
think I will go to sf and kills some dredges-----

I personaly have enjoyed the game very much, and am a little diapointed that the charters that I have worked on for so long(1,500 hrs)will not be alowed to transfer to the new game.

I hope that ANET will rethink this, and come up with some kind of solution to this dalima.

If there is going to be no ceiling on levels, then bring level 20 chartes from the other game should not be the problem.

I believe if they did let us bring our charters over to the new game, then eventualy they can just shut down the old game server, and no one will be upset because the can continue on.

Also they would not lose any of the orignal fans of GW,not sure this would be posible, but I have a idea for this.

To create a server just for this, this server would be conected to both the orignal GW and GW2 one you bring your charters over from the orignal game they would no longer exist on the orignal game.

I am not saying bring over every charter but give us a opertunity to at least bring over two or three of our orignal charters.

Also they can bring over what ever fits in there bags nothing more.100k + items.

This is a idea, not base on any knowledge on how any of this would be acheived.

After reading trough counless pages and post about GW2 (not having the mag yet myself) i think GW is going to take a step so far ahead in MMO's that iw till rewrite MMO gaming for years. we all know that the lvl 20 cap made for an amazing gameplay with actual chalenges no mater where you went tin the game. and we all loved that each class was basicly = to any other class. so with the new motion physics in place and likly a similar lvl system though my bet is like a general cap of lvl 40 with all above that simply for the prestige of the number by your name. also remember that not everyone will be able to go out and get GW2 right away. it is likely that GW1 in all its forms will be up and running for several years after GW2 is released. also the fact that we can't transfer much to the new game simply proves Anets philosophy of balance. I for one an confidant that it won't be a WoW type POS and am going to do everything in my power to get in the beta. and of course buy the game. after all i've been in GW for near 2 years now and have loved every bit of it. and who knows maybe we will finaly know what happened to Gwen real soon here XD

Think of the hours spent capping skills, getting armor, or ectos farmed, ...

However, there is always levels above that which give you more incentive to play and level your character so you can be better than 'everyone else'. Grinding is as far as I'm considered pretty fun.
That's you. I totally hate the "grind for more level" of every single MMORPG out there.

And I don't think I'm alone on this either.
